Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to be professional dancer. However, after spending time with her sister Katie at her role on the Ladies Room movie set, Emily began to be interested in acting. The acting profession began after she began taking classes. She also got appearances on television shows in her homeland of Canada. Some of the TV series that she appeared in were Are You scared to be in the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's professional career began to take off when he was cast for the part of Sam Dolan, a regular in the series WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. While the show was praised by reviews, its low ratings caused it to be removed after only nine episodes. The May 12th, 1986 actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the principal characters. The actress was nominated in 4 Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
